One of the stunning mountain areas is Gokyo valley via Renjo La pass in the Everest region of Nepal. The Everest Renjo-La pass trek is a short route trek, but you can discover unlimited beauties of the Everest region in the limited time. The Gokyo peak itself is the highlight of the trek. The Renjo La pass offers the great view of Gokyo lake on one side and Rermo Pokhari Lake on the other side with the blue turquoise color which looks so magical. Dedicate your time to the breathtaking mountain scenery of Everest (8848m), Makalu, Cho Oyo (8153m) and Lhotse (8511m), to name but a few. The trail through the Renjo La Pass, which is at a height of 5345m finally ends at Lukla via Thame, Namche and Phakding.

TRIP DETAILS

Day 01: Arrival

Upon arrival to Kathmandu Airport, our representative will drop you to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla; Trek to Phakding (2652m) – 2 to 3 hours walk

We catch our early morning flight to Lukla, which is one of the most renowned mountain airstrip in the world. Upon reaching here, we have our lunch and trek our way to Phakding. Overnight at lodge/teahouse.

Day 03: Trek to Namche (3440m) – 4 to 5 hours walk

We start our trek to Namche with uphill climb. From here, you will catch the first glimpses of Mount Everest along with Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. Namche is the gateway to Everest region and a major bazaar in Khumbu region. Everest Saturday a big market feast is held. Overnight at lodge/teahouse.

Day 04: Trek to Khumjung (3791m) – 2 to 3 hours walk

Our trail drops to Khumjung and we pass by many Sherpa villages. We climb uphill to Syangboche first via yellow and whittle rhododendron forest and reach another village called Khunde. Further, we reach Khumjung. In Khumjung, the Sherpa’s hospitality is sure to amaze you. Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 05:  Trek to Deboche (3700m) – 5 to 6 hours walk

We pass through dwarf fires and rhododendrons being surrounded by Kwongde, Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Amadablam, Thamserku and more inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants. On our way, we visit the Tengboche monastery.

Walking uphill, we are able to witness the dramatic mount Ama Dablam and Kangtega views along with Mount Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse on the route. We cross the Dudh Koshi at Phugithanga and climb through rhododendron forest to enter Thyangboche. From here, we walk further and arrive at Deboche.  Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 06: Trek to Phortse (3900m) via Pangboche – 4 to 5 hours walk

We walk to Pangboche first and stop here for lunch. The mountain ridges of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamaserku, Ama Dablam and Tawache can be seen. Another walk takes us to Phortse. Overnight at lodge or camp.

 Day 07: Trek to Dole (4038m) – 3 to 4 hours walk

Walking through the forest areas, we move capturing the splendid scenarios around and stop at Dole for lunch. In the evening, we walk to the ridges. Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 08: Trek to Machhermo (4410m) – 4 to 5 hours walk

We walk through scrub junipers to Lhabarna and we observe few kharkas with the slightest hint of water. Containing our climb, we cross sandy spurs to Machhermo. Overnight at Lodge or camp.

Day 09: Rest Day at Machhermo

We take rest here today and explore the surrounding areas. Overnight at Lodge or camp.

Day 10: Trek to Gokyo (4790m) – 5 to 6 hours walk

Our trail climbs to a ridge offering the fantastic views of the valley and Kantega and Cho Oyo Mountains. We pass through Pangka then and reach Gokyo, where stone houses and walled pastures on the shores of a large lake can be seen. Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 11: Explore Gokyo

We visit Ngozumba Tse glacier and stroll around the surrounding. We can also hike up to Gokyo Ri to find stunning Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang and Makalu views. We then return back to Gokyo. Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 12: Explore Gokyo continued

Gokyo is famous for the sparkling azure lakes. So, we explore the lakes here and can move to view upto the 6th lake. The first one is ‘Lonspunga Tso’ lying at the height of 4710m. The second is Taujung Tsho residing at 4728m and the third lake, Gokyo Tsho (4734m). These lakes appear as shimmering beauty right in front of us. We can further walk to observe more lakes and return back to Gokyo. Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 13: Cross Renjo La Pass (5340m) and trek to Nangpo Tsangpo – 6 to 7 hours walk

Our trek challenge of the day is to cross Renjo La Pass situated at a height of 5340m. We climb to the pass and stop here to eye on the wonderful glimpses of the Gokyo valley and Gokyo lakes (blue Turquoise color). We will also capture the Mount Everest ranges and then descend to Nangpo Tsangpo, a small Sherpa settlement. Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 14: Trek to Thame (3801m) – 3 to 4 hours walk

Following the bank of Dudh Koshi Eiver, we wander through yellow and whittle rhododendron forest being accompanied by Thamserku and Kusum Kangru peaks. Walking few hours we reach Thame, the birthplace of Tenzing Norgay, who made the first ascent to Everest with Hillary in 1953. Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 15: Rest day at Thame

We take rest today to relax and walk to the nearby surrounding such as the view of Nangpa La pass, which is the pass to Tibet frequently used by the Sherpas and their yaks during monsoon. Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 16: Trek back to Namche (3445m) – 4 to 5 hours walk

Having our breakfast, we walk past the scanty forest areas and a small bridge. Mount Thamserku, Kwangde Ri and Khumbila surrounds us all our way to Namche. Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 17: Trek back to Lukla (2880m) – 6 to 7 hours walk

As we are almost near to the end of our trip, we catch in the final glimpses of the Khumbu hills and walk to Lukla. We enjoy our last night at Khumbu Region. Overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu

We enjoy the trans-Himalayan flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

 (Note: The above itinerary is a just a guideline. Itineraries are subject to change to suit the local conditions and other factors. At times the flights may either be delayed or even cancelled for a day or more, mostly because of bad weather. At such condition, we recommend our guests to have one extra day in Kathmandu post trek.)
