Helambu lies just a 72 km northeast of Kathmandu. It’s a short trek that offers best cultural journey in mid hills of the country. Along with the spectacular mountain views, you can see the Buddhist culture, traditional lifestyle and spectacular terraced farmlands in Helambu. The local people, in order to preserve their culture had kept the monasteries maintained in their place. The Helambu region is grooved by several valleys, ridges and have predominant Sherpa villages. The trek is easily accessible from Kathmandu and you can experience the beautiful rhododendron forest along with the awe-inspiring backdrop of Himalayan panorama such as Langtang  Lirung, Dorje Lakpa,  Shisapangma of Tibet and many other surrounding peaks. The trek is really smooth and suitable for every level of trekkers.

TRIP DETAILS

Day 01: Arrival

Upon arrival to Kathmandu Airport, our representative will drop you to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisopani (2300m) – 2 to 3 hours walk

We start our trek with drive to Sundarijal and from here, we climb uphill to Chisopani. We are able to view Menlungtse and Annapurna. Overnight lodge or camp.

Day 03: Trek to Tarangmarang (960m) – 4 to 5 hours walk

We pass through the little village of Pati Ghangyang offering views down into the Melamchi valley. The village Tarangmarang is located on the bank of the river. Overnight lodge or camp.

Day 04: Trek to Shermathang (2621m) – 5 to 6 hours walk

We climb uphill through the forest to reach the first of the main Sherpa villages known as Shermathang. Overnight lodge or camp.

Day 05: Trek to Tarkegyang (2600m) – 5 to 6 hours walk

The people and the views from Helambu is sure to amaze you. The community here are mostly Sherpa people and are farmers primarily. Observing everything here, we reach Tarkegyang. Overnight lodge or camp.

Day 06: Trek to Forest Camp (2530m) – 4 to 5 hours walk

Our trail drops to Melamchi Khola and then to Melamchi gaon. After exploring the village, we move to forest camp. Overnight lodge or camp.

Day 07: Trek to Kutumsang (2468m) – 5 to 6 hours trek

We climb to Tharepati via rhododendron forest. You can view goats, sheep and cattle are brought for grazing. A steep descent then takes us to Kutumsang. Overnight lodge or camp.

Day 08: Trek to Buring Bhyangyang (2438m) – 4 to 5 hours walk

We move past the Tamang settlements and reach Pati Ghangyang. Then, we climb through Chisopani to reach Buring Bhangyang. Overnight lodge or camp.

Day 09: Short trek to Budhhanilkantha and back to Kathmandu

After a short walk to Chautara, we reach Shivapuri hill and then passing by Nainki Gompa, we arrive at Budhhanilkantha, the holy shrine of Lord Vishnu. We visit the temple and drive back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
