The journey to Mount Kailash, the sacred land to all the pilgrimage, starts from Simikot. Then we trek to Yari and from there, we trek towards a high pass cross called Nara La and descend towards Humla Karnali River that reaches to the border of Hilsa and Khojarnath village. From there we will drive to Taklakot and feel the amazing weather at a plateau, then drive to Manasarover Lake and Mount Kailash, the lake and mountain with magnetic influence to all the devotees respectively. After completely Kora at Mount Kailash, we fly back to Kathmandu.

TRIP DETAILS

Day 01: Arrival

Upon arrival to Kathmandu Airport, our representative will drop you to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 02: Fly/Drive to Nepalgunj

Early morning we catch either our flight or bus to Nepalgunj and stay overnight at Hotel there.

 

Day 03: Fly to Simikot and trek to Majgoan (2400m) – 3 to 4 hours walk

We catch early morning flight to Simikot that takes around 45 minutes and we hop over the Mahabharata hills, Bheri river valley and the Karnali River. Having taken care of the immigrations, the group will meet the Guide and Sherpa crew here and then start trek to Majgoan. We climb through the Simikot Lagna and then descend to Karnali gorge. Overnight at lodge or camp.

 

Day 04: Trek to Danda Kermi (2550m) – 6 to 7 hours walk

We hike via the Karnali river valley passing Toling and Dharapani village along with several cascading waterfall and reach Dharapani. Overnight at camp.

 

Day 05: Trek to Yalbang Chaur (2700m) – 6 to 7 hours walk

We start our trek by passing through Kermi village, the first village inhabited by upper Humla community of Tibetan descent. Then, we cross the Sali Khola and reach Yalbang Chaur. Overnight at camp.

 

Day 06: Trek to Tumkot Khola (2800m) – 6 to 7 hours walk

Today, we climb through the valley of Yalbang and pass the Toothpaling Monastery. Walking along the bend of Karnali, we reach Muchu. From here, the trail descends to Tumkot. Overnight at camp.

 

Day 07: Trek to Yari (3450m) – 5 to 6 hours walk

We cross the bridge over Tumkot Khola and move to Yari village. The trail climbs to mountainside and the walk to Nara La pass will be taking you to Tibet. Yari is known as the last Nepali village before heading to Nara La. Overnight at camp.

 

Day 08: Trek over Nara La pass (4325m) to Sher (3600m) in Tibet – 7 to 8 hours walk

We take the challenge today and move past the Nara La pass, which is marked by a heap of stones, flag poles and strings of colorful prayer flags that travelers placed there. Upon reaching here, we enjoy the fascinating views around and walk to Sher. Overnight at camp.

 

Day 09: Trek to Kocher (3600m) – 1 to 2 hours walk; Drive to Taklakot (3500m) – around 1 hour

 Continuing our trek to first Tibetan village, we walk through the gravel path towards Kocher that comprises of famous Gompa of Kochernath. We then drive to Taklakot (also known as Purang or Burang). Overnight at lodge or camp.

 

Day 10: Day at Taklakot

We stay at Taklakot to enjoy the bazar and monastery here. We visit Tsegu Gomppa. Overnight at lodge or camp.

 

Day 11: Drive to Lake Manasarovar (4558m) – 3 to 4 hours drive

Today, we drive to Lake Mansarovar, towards Mount Kailash and stay near Chiu Gompa. Overnight at camp.

 

Day 12: Drive to Darchen (4500m) at the base of Mt Kailash – Around 2 hours drive

We drive north from Chiu Gompa towards Mt Kailash to reach Darchen, is a small settlement at the bottom of the southern slopes of the holy mountain. Overnight at camp.

 

Day 13: Trek to Dri – ra Phuk Gompa (4900m) 6 to 7 hours walk

Passing through the valley of Lha Chu, we reach Tarpachan, where we observe meadows and flagpole with stunning view of Mount Kailash. Overnight at camp.

 

Day 14: Trek over Drolma La pass (5400m) to Zuthul Phuk Gompa (4700m) – 7 to 8 hours walk

We move past the Drolma La pass and walk through the fields, built by pilgrims and finally reach Zuthul Phuk Gompa. Overnight at camp.

 

Day 15: Trek back to Darchen

We trace back our journey to Darchen via monastery of Zuphul Phul, which serves as a meditation retreat to Tibetan saint Milrarepa. We will observe the palm prints on the rocks, which is believed to be carved when he liften them. We stay overnight at Darchen in a lodge or camp.

 

Day 16 – 19: Drive to Mayumla/Paryang/Saga/Zhangmu and Kathmandu

During these days, we drive back to our destination to reach Kathmandu. Till Saga, we stay overnight at camp and upon reaching Zhangmu, we get to stay overnight at Hotel. With our drive to Kathmandu, we bid our good byes to our lovely trekking destination. After reaching Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
