Brief information on Langtang:
Langtang trek is one of the most exciting treks in Nepal, where you can view the amazing terraced fields of mustard in the lower altitude. Langtang valley is a nearest Himalayan region from Kathmandu valley and hence, it is a short trek and is close to the border with Tibet and China. People living in this region are descendant of the Tibetan origin so you can experience the Tibetan lifestyle here. Langtang National Park is country’s first National Park which is situated between the Himalayan range to the north, dominated by several peaks such as Langatng Lirung (7,245 m), Chimse Danda (ridge), Ganja La pass (5,122 m), Jugal Himal and Dorje Lakpa (6,989 m). Langtang is also best known for its glaciers and high altitude lakes such as Gosainkunda, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda and Dudhkunda. The forests in the region have temperate and sub-alpine vegetation with wildlife including deer, migratory bird, Tahr, monkey and Pika. The best season for the Lantang valley trek is autumn (mid Sept to mid Dec) and spring (March to May).
TRIP DETAILS
Day 01: Arrival
Upon arrival to Kathmandu Airport, our representative will drop you to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Drive to Dhunche and trek to Bharkhu (1950m) – 2 to 3 hours walk
The morning transport from Kathmandu takes us to Dhunche through the foothills. From here, we take a short trek to Bharkhu. Overnight at lodge or camp.
Day 03: Trek to Forest Camp (1982m) – 4 to 5 hours walk
Our trail traverses high above the junction of the Trisuli River and the Langtang Khola and takes us to Syabru, a busy village where Sherpa and Tamang farm in the area. The trail then drops to fine deciduous forest near the bank of the river. Overnight at lodge or camp.
Day 04: Trek to Ghoratabela (3048m) – 5 to 6 hours walk
We climb uphill steadily through Langtang gorge and rhododendron forest to reach Ghoratabela, which is actually the end point of the main forest area where an army post is located. Overnight at lodge or camp.
Day 05: Trek to Langtang (3307m) – 5 to 6 hours walk
We go through the easy climb into alpine country to reach Langtang valley. Overnight at lodge or camp.
Day 06: Trek to Kyangjin Gompa (3049m) – 5 to 6 hours walk
We continue our trail to Kyangjin Gompa, where a government rest house and a cheese factory exists. Overnight at lodge or camp.
Day 07: Rest/Exploration day
We explore the valley above the Gompa where we can see Langtang Lirung glacier and Yala Peak. Ganesh Himal and the Ganjala Himal also appears wonderful. Overnight at lodge or camp.
Day 08: Trek back to Syabru – 4 to 5 hours walk
We now trek back to Syabru moving downhill and uphill along the way. Overnight at lodge or camp.
Day 09: Trek to Sing Gompa (3250m) – 4 to 5 hours walk
The uphill walk leads to a ridgeline and offers the Annapurna views. During spring, flowers and fresh cheese adds glory on our trek. Overnight at lodge or camp.
Day 10: Trek back to Dhunche and back to Kathmandu
We start our journey back to Dhunche and then back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
