The Lower Dolpo is located in the northern part of the Dolpo region (which is in the western part of Nepal). The Lower Dolpo Trek passes through Shey-Phoksundo National Park, which is the center of attraction. You can experience varieties of rare and endangered flora and fauna species which you can see nowhere else in Nepal. Trekking in Lower Dolpo is less complicated and provides an opportunity to enjoy beautiful landscape view, unique cultural experience, Buddhist monasteries, yak caravans that maintain traditional salt trade with Tibet and most importantly, the beautiful Phokhsundo Lake that has turquoise blue water. Though the lifestyle of this region is still primitive where caravans of sheep and yak are used for trading, people are really friendly and hostile. This trekking has its own beauty and charm.
The preferable season to trek at Lower Dolpo is spring season (March to May) and autumn season (October-November).
