Manaslu is crowned as the 8th highest peak in the world and is located near to the border of Nepal and Tibet. It is a well-loved trekking route, providing with pristine mountain views, rich culture, natural wilderness and genuine adventure of all time. Its only opened in 1992 as restricted region for trekking area offering a combination of rich cultural heritage of monasteries and stupas, unsurpassed beauty and biological diversity. The trekking trail follows an ancient salt trading route along the Budhi Gandaki River.

The name Manaslu means “The Spirit-Mountain” in the local dialect, referring to the benevolent and strong deity, which dwells within. Trekking in Manaslu is one of the most delightful adventures.

TRIP DETAILS

Day 01 – Drive Kathmandu to  Arughat by private vehicle.. The drives takes about 6/7 hours. Overnight at lodge

Day 02 – Arughat – Soti Khola 700m. Cross the river and walk towards north along the western bank through agricultural land and scattered villages. Views of the Ganesh Himal can be seen to the north-east. We camp at the Soti Khola (river) where washing and bathing is also possible.6 hours walk. Overnight at lodge.

Day 03 – Soti Khola – Machakhola.. We cross the river and continue walking towards north up the valley to Khorsaani. We enjoy lunch by a river bank and then watch our step as the trail bumps along to the beautiful Gurung village known as Lububesi 880 m. From Lububesi post lunch walking is combination of flat trail, mild up and down hill walk before  reaching Machakhola a small village. Comparatively a long day walk total 7 half to 8 hours .Overnight at lodge.

Day 04 – Machakhola – Dobhan  1000 m. The trail continues towards north-west. The trail again is a combination of walking along the river bank , mild ups and downs, scanty villages and small forests Lunch may be taken at the Tatopani. Along with forests and villages the Buri Gandaki is crossed by way of suspension bridge and a walk along the east bank of the river finally leads to a well-crafted staircase and Dobhan. Reach Dobhan.  6 hours walk.Overnight at lodge .

Day 05 – Dobhan  –  Jagat. 1410m. Along a rough trail this morning passes through a huge landslide area where care should be taken. Eventually a ridge is crossed and an easier path leads to Yari Khola . Then cross this tributary and continue up the Buri Gandaki. The trail this afternoon is much better morning. Lunch at Yarafhat. After lunch Jagat is 2 half to 3 hours.The village of Jagat is finally reached. The village is mainly inhabited by Gurungs and has a police check post, as well as customs office for assessing the value of good brought from Tibet. Total 5/ 6 hours walk. Overnight at lodge.

Day 06 – Jagat-Eklebhatti 3100m . Leave Jagat and walk along the river bank before climbing up towards Salleri,Setibas. Past here and a downhill stretch takes us to Ghattekhola where lunch is enjoyed. The river is crossed here by way of a bamboo bridge. The trail crosses the village of Filim , from here the walk to Eklebhatti is mostly flat day walk. Total 4 half to 5 hours walk. Overnight at lodge.

Day 07 – Eklebhatti  – Deng. A steep uninhabited gorge with the trail running along a cliff makes this a memorable part of the trail.A rough trail.Finally the trail widens and bamboo forests lead to the tiny village of Deng. It is a small village with few lodges. The total hours of walking is approximately 6 hours. Overnight at lodge.

Day 08 – Deng – Namrong 2660 m. Cross the Buri Gandaki ,waterrfalls, ravines and canyons are all encountered. Just before Shringe Khola we leave the main trail drop down to the riverside for lunch. Afterwards we continue walking in the same direction for towards Namrong , Mostly the people of Tibetan origin live in this area, but they call themselves Gurungs. Their language culture is different from realy Gurungs. Most of the people survive on farming. Total hours walk 7.Overnight at lodge.

Day 09 – Namrong – Samagoan.(3520m.Flat walking followed by uphill walk after crossing Lo. Lunch break at Lo. After lunch downhill walk again followed by uphill walk before reaching Shyla. Again the combination of mild up and down hill walk followed by lfat walking before reaching Samagoan. A big settlement with mostly people of Tibetan origin, the local people have large farming land. The spectacular view of Manaslu mountain can be seen. The Samagon has an old monastery. Total 7 hours walk. Overnight at lodge.

Day 10 – Rest –  Acclimatization dauy at Samagoan. Local exploration, visit Monastery interact with local people. Etc. Overnight at lodge.

Day 11 – Samagoan to Samdo 3690m. – A short day walk of about 3 half hours. Comparatively an easy day walk. Combination of mild up and down hill and flat walk. Walk along the river bank. Overnight at lodge. Samdo is a small village with just 3 or 4 small lodges. Village has 20/25 small houses.

Day 12 – Samdo- Dharmasala. 4470m. Again comparatively a a short day of  4 hours. We can reach Dharmasala  to have lunch and halt for the night at lodge. It has just one lodge. With no other human settlement.

Day 13 – Dharmasala (Phedi)- Bhimthang.3720m. Cross Larka La 5100 – Start early for the trek over the pass.(start latest by 5 a.m.) . Unlike some other Himalayan passes the Larkya La is not particularly high or steep, but at 5100 m it still commands respect. The route gains height gradually but at no time is a proper trail visible, often the ground is rough underfoot and we recommend a rope,ice axe and one Sherpa to each group member specially if there are weaker members in a group. Most people take between 5 to 7 hours to reach the pass. The views from here are tremendous, to the west a stack f peaks including Annapurna II can be seen. After crossing the pass one has to descend southwards along a sttepish downhill landslide area for a couple of hours before reaching Bhimthang  7/8 hours walk. A long and strenuous day walk. Overnight at lodge.

Day 14– Bhimthang/Dharapani 1860m. We continue descending this morning through  to a summer pasture land called lunch break at Seti khola. Mostly the forest area is also corssed on the way. After lunch we walk along the Seti Khola through beautiful rhododendron forest .Specatular views of Manaslu peak can be seen from Dharapni.. Total walking 7 hours. Dharapani is a quite a big settlement with many lodges, a government check post. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 15 – Dharapani/Jagat 1300m – Continue descending. Lunch at Tal.Mostly walk along the river bank  . Unfortunately no any mountain views are visible.. Small villages and forest could be seen from time to time on the trail total 7 hours walk. Jagat is a big Gurung village with many lodges.Overnight at lodge.

Day 16 – Jagat/Bulbule 840m. Total 6 hours walk. After breakfast at the lodge combination of ups and downhill walk with less climbs, also an easy walk with flat trail. Cross small scanty villages and farm lands. Reach Bubule a big settlement with many houses and lodges. Overnight at lodge.

Day 17 – Bulbule/Beshisahar From Bulbule Beshisahar town can be reached at lunch time total 3 to 3 half hours walk. An easy flat trail walk along the villages.Beshisahar is a big town. After lunch drive back to Kathmandu. The drive takes 5 to 5 half hours walk.
